1 week agoSony Wipes 1,000 Shovelware Entries From The PlayStation Store
Sony removed over 1,000 low-quality games from the PlayStation Store to improve user experience and reduce clutter.
Bad news for fans of The Jumping Burger: the PlayStation Store has excised the game, along with over 1,000 similar titles published by the same developer, in what appears to be an effort to clear the storefront of shovelware. German publisher ThiGames had its entire catalog of at least 1,196 games silently delisted. The company, as pointed out by streamer and "trophy hunter" RobThanatos on X, published the fourth-highest number of titles on the PlayStation Store. ThiGames has yet to publicly acknowledge the removals.
I'm shocked-shocked!-to learn that Leon S. Kennedy will appear in Resident Evil Requiem. It's only the thing fans have been guessing for months, ever since the sequel was revealed back at Summer Game Fest. The new confirmation comes not from some industry insider or from speculation on 4chan but via the PlayStation Store itself, which accidentally shared the surprise with players. I'm guessing the full reveal was planned for this week's Game Awards 2025 showcase.
"Fame has never been this hands-on." That's the tagline for OF Model Simulator 2025, a visual novel RPG featuring nearly naked women which until recently appeared to be for sale on the PlayStation Store for just $15. The announcement page remains but the option to buy has been removed. It's unclear if that's in response to players' ongoing complaints about Sony's slop-filled digital storefront or because of other reasons.
According to Dealabs, the Cross-Buy tags were added by Sony all the way back in June 2025, but what the company's definition of this term could be is unknown. For comparison, Microsoft offers a cross-buy feature where Xbox games can be played on PC, (sometimes) through cloud streaming, or anything else that it considers to be an Xbox--like the ROG Ally X handheld.
Luckily, right now, you can grab the console for as low as $374 directly through the PlayStation storefront with the code PS5KLARNA - and it doesn't appear as though you need to use Klarna's payment service to get the discount. The code works with the PS5 Digital Edition and the PS5 Slim with 1TB of storage, bringing the prices down to $374 and $424.99, respectively.
Anime Village Online will allegedly feature cross-platform multiplayer and arrive sometime in 2027. Who's making it? The developer is listed as Wisnu Sudirman. According to a LinkedIn page bearing the same name, that person is a recent graduate who lives in Indonesia. Anime Village Online isn't their only hustle either. They're also apparently making a game called Rooted: Survival, with store page art that makes it look like an AI-generated rip-off of The Last of Us.
Sony has shared its charts for the best-selling PlayStation Store games in the US/Canada for September 2025. Last month had a stacked lineup of AAA titles going up against indie juggernaut Hollow Knight: Silksong. Although Silksong performed well, it finished at No. 4. Borderlands 4 was another strong contender to be the No. 1 game, and it very nearly lived up to those expectations by debuting at No. 2. However, the new No. 1 is the basketball game NBA 2K26.
If you want to refund a game, you can't do it from your console. Instead you'll need to log in to the PlayStation website or open the PlayStation app and follow these instructions, but the process is still quite simple. How To Refund A Game On the PlayStation Store Or App Go to the PlayStation store. Click on the three dots in the top right corner. Select the option that reads "Transaction History" Select one of your purchases and choose the "request refund" option.
