The Sinking City 2 shifts to survival horror but delivers an unsurprising, unchallenging, uninspired experience.
In the opening hours of Code Vein II , you'll obtain your bike/motorcycle that can be whipped out at almost any time when you're out traversing the open world. It's obviously much faster than running around, but it also has some utility. If you're fast enough, you can ram straight through enemies, dealing a small amount of damage to them. So if you're in an area where you just want to skip all the enemies, just hop on your bike and charge through.
Pretty much every game has RPG elements these days, so if you squint hard enough, you can make the case for a lot of games being RPGs, even if they don't follow the same formulas and structures the genre historically has. Because the definition of what makes an RPG has gotten looser over the years, any list of the best ones in any given year is pretty much guaranteed to have a ton of variety, including everything from action-packed open-world sprawls to strategic retro throwbacks.
Heir to the tradition of not just The Outer Worlds , but also first-person action RPGs like Obsidian's own Fallout: New Vegas , The Outer Worlds 2 presents the Commander as a blank slate for the player to mold to her preference. This extends from physical customization options and a set of loosely sketched character backgrounds-a professor or ex-convict, for instance-to a variety of personal attributes and attending skills.
Players are introduced to the protagonist Atsu, who survives the slaughter of her family when she's a young girl. A sword pinned her to a ginkgo tree, but she miraculously survived and escaped. Years later, she returns as a seasoned warrior having fought in the Battle of Sekigahara. Atsu has one goal in mine, the elimination of the Yotei Six, who brutally attacked her family. She wants to die, trying to kill them all.
When I arrived, the elevator attendant called out in French for only those with the special ticket to get off at the first floor. I made my way out from a whole crowd of confused tourists, pounded on a locked door that opened up to an intriguing fake Pokémon concierge desk of sorts, and finally, a café where assorted plushies rested.
