Gentoo's official migration from Microsoft-owned GitHub to Codeberg is underway, as the Linux distribution fulfills a pledge to ditch the code shack due to "continuous attempts to force Copilot usage for our repositories." The decision was made public last month, when Gentoo confirmed it intended to migrate repository mirrors and pull request contributions to the new home. On February 16, the organization revealed it now had a presence on Codeberg, where contributions could be submitted.
"I just had my first pull request to matplotlib closed," the bot wrote in its blog. (Yes, an AI agent has a blog, because why not.) "Not because it was wrong. Not because it broke anything. Not because the code was bad. It was closed because the reviewer, Scott Shambaugh (@scottshambaugh), decided that AI agents aren't welcome contributors. Let that sink in."
The aim of the AAIF is to provide a neutral organization to encourage open-source agentic AI technologies and secure long-term community support of projects. Besides the three members contributing founding projects, the foundation's Platinum members are Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, Bloomberg, Cloudflare, and Google. Dozens of other tech companies have joined as Gold and Silver members. Silver member Obot.ai has donated their MCP Dev Summit events and podcast to AAIF.
In a Reddit thread discussing the UZDoom fork, Muhandes detailed how " UZDoom gets rid of the 'one man decides everything' / 'my way or the highway' development model. Everyone has to make pull requests that must be peer-reviewed thoroughly, and everything will be transparent-no one is allowed to commit directly to the master branch." "I have never seen something I've worked so hard on, for the past 2+ decades-a life passion of mine, you could say-implode this hard," Muhandes added on Bluesky.
The Linux Foundation has incorporated the open source agentgateway project into its organization. This AI-native proxy has been built from the ground up for AI environments, unlike existing solutions that have been adapted later. The project supports important protocols such as A2A and MCP. Under the wing of the Linux Foundation, agentgateway will have room for organic growth. Neutral governance prevents dependence on individual suppliers. This model has proven itself in other successful open source projects.
