NJ Transit has announced a 30% reduction in its special event rail fares for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. Round-trip tickets from New York Penn Station to MetLife Stadium, which were originally priced at a staggering $150, will now cost $105. The initial price tag sparked immediate outrage from fans and advocacy groups. Which is no surprise given the standard round-trip fare for the 18-mile journey is typically $12.90.

The Transportation and Infrastructure team report included 20 recommendations, with suggestions to moving two light rail line expansions and designing a bus rapid transit system for South Jersey. They suggested allowing traffic enforcement cameras to address safety issues and to study an idea from Sherrill's Republican challenger.

On Monday morning, a smoke condition at the Pavonia-Newport PATH station in Jersey City led to the suspension of service on the Journal Square-33rd Street and Hoboken-World Trade Center lines.

We need to give them some relief until this is over.

Kolluri stated, 'I think that the proposal that they have put forward is neither serious nor does it show a signal that they are willing to collaborate to get to a solution.'
