New FDA-approved drug makes severe food allergies less life-threatening
A new drug called omalizumab has been approved by the FDA to lessen allergic reactions to foods in people with multiple food allergies.
Omalizumab works by binding to a class of antibodies in the body called immunoglobulin E (IgE) that are specifically involved in allergic responses, preventing immune responses that lead to allergy symptoms. [ more ]
