Jesse Lingard will playing against Manchester United this evening for the first time since he left the club for Nottingham Forest in the summer.Having spent 22 years at the club and not agreeing a new contract, it was clear that Lingard would be leaving, so had his last opportunity to say goodbye to the fans in the final home game of the season against Brentford.

LUSAIL, Qatar -- Bruno Fernandes overshadowed Cristiano Ronaldo by scoring both goals for Portugal on Monday as a 2-0 win against Uruguay sealed a place in the 2022 World Cup's knockout round for the 2016 European champions.In a hard-fought game at Lusail Stadium, Fernandes made the key difference for Portugal as Uruguay's loss left them at the bottom of Group H and needing to win against Ghana in their final game to have any hope of qualifying for the next stage.

So that was the 2022-23 LaLiga season.With just one round of games left to play, it's all wrapped up except for the last relegation spot, and one European place.Barcelona were crowned champions, well ahead of nearest rivals Real Madrid.Atletico Madrid and -- for the first time in a decade -- Real Sociedad joined them in the top four.

They head to Real Madrid on Wednesday needing to overturn a three-goal deficit - something only achieved on three previous occasions in the competition - after losing 5-2 in the first leg at Anfield.But the Reds do have previous for unlikely Champions League fightbacks and will take heart from their 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United in the Premier League.
