Newly Discovered Asteroid Fragments Are As Old as the Solar System
Fragments of a rare space rock type called aubrites have been recovered from a meteorite that exploded over Germany.
Only 11 examples of aubrite meteorite falls had been found on Earth prior to this discovery.
The aubrite meteorites are believed to represent just 1% of known meteorites and likely came from the inner side of the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. [ more ]
