The reduction in emissions was also attributed to a drop in electricity demand, increased imports from neighboring countries, and decreased production by energy-intensive companies due to economic weakness. [ more ]

Germany emitted its lowest amount of carbon dioxide in 70 years, with a decrease of 73 million tons from 2022.
