The M.T.A. Wants Marathon Runners to Pay Bridge Tolls, Too
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is demanding $750,000 annually from the organization running the NYC Marathon due to toll revenue losses from closing the Verrazzano Bridge.
The M.T.A. threatened to restrict runners to the lower deck of the bridge during the marathon unless a payment agreement is reached, but later allowed use of the upper deck. [ more ]
