Light, for instance, is not only a technical requirement but also an architectural material in its own right. It can structure space, animate surfaces, define textures, and shape atmosphere while influencing well-being. At the same time, the characteristics between minimalism and maximalism shape how atmospheres are perceived, prompting reflection on how approaches to simplicity or exuberance might influence mood. Rather than existing as opposing aesthetics, these tendencies explore how interiors interact with mental states, reflect personal identity.
Black Void presents its first solo exhibition, The Sky, Oscillating, at the historic Bund·City Hall as part of the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival. The interdisciplinary collective, founded and directed by Yixuan Cai, with partner Yuhan Xiao and core member Yun Hong, brings together practitioners from digital media, architecture, data science, and music. The exhibition gathers more than ten works developed across three years of research, using light, atmospheric data, and spatial installation to examine the relationship between natural systems and human-made infrastructures.
This first-of-its-kind unmanned mission - Escape and Plasma Acceleration and Dynamics Explorers, or ESCAPADE - could launch as early as this Sunday, sending twin satellites to Mars that together will offer the clearest picture yet of the shifting Martian atmosphere and magnetic field. If it succeeds, it could reveal mysteries about how Mars became the red wasteland that we see today, and may help us send humans to safely explore our planetary neighbor. It also pioneers a new path to Mars and a cheaper - if riskier - model for space exploration.

The album opens with a reading of Douglas Dunn's The Kaleidoscope, a poem about being trapped in a cycle of grief, as sparse drums boom arhythmically alongside bursts of noise and a low metallic drone. As it transitions into the distant shriek of vocalist / guitarist Chip King, "A Lament" sputters in fits and starts as it struggles to take flight.
Don Toliver has carved out a reputation for crafting songs that live in the space between rap and R&B, blending melody with mood in ways that resist easy categorization. His latest release, "Tiramisu," continues that tradition, arriving on the heels of Jack Boys 2, the collaborative summer project that further cemented his status within Houston 's current wave. With its hypnotic cadence and lush, layered production,
Ryan C. Brown's paintings capture the moment lamp posts turn on, creating a character study of evening walks and nightlife inspired by childhood memories and various visual sources.
The main story of the day was an eruption of emotion in the middle of 11-on-11 drills between the first team offense and second team defense. Rookie OLB James Pearce Jr. got into a little bit of a back and forth with C Ryan Neuzil before players on both offense and defense joined in the scuffle.
