The City of Loogootee has passed a series of ordinances in an apparent attempt to prevent Patoka Valley AIDS Community Action Group from conducting its annual Pride Festival in the Public Square area of Loogootee's downtown,
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is fighting back in court against the Trump administration and Heath and Human Services (HHS) Department's attempt to attack programming aimed at early education and the education of marginalized groups. "The Trump administration sent Head Start employees a six-page list of 'prohibited words' for grant applications, including terms like: disabilities, tribal, Black, and women," the group wrote on social media this week. "The administration wants to erase communities and block access to early childhood services. We'll see them in court."
Within weeks, there could be a halt to the Trump administration's practice of arresting immigrants at court hearings in San Francisco, if a district court judge rules in favor of the American Civil Liberties Union and other Bay Area groups challenging the practice. Immigration agents have for months arrested immigrants after their asylum hearings, placed them in federal custody, and tried to deport them to the countries they have fled from (and, as of late, to countries they have never been to).

I was standing there incapacitated and vulnerable from a barrage of chemical pellets they had shot me with moments earlier. ICE gave no orders or warnings. All around me, they were slamming peaceful protesters into fences and into the ground, and moving in formation to isolate and assault anyone who was vulnerable.
District 9 Supervisor Jackie Fielder walked out of the elevator on the sixth floor at 630 Sansome St. on Thursday morning and through the security checkpoint to become the first city supervisor to visit the ICE detention facility since the Trump administration began its immigration crackdown this year. The inside of the ICE headquarters, where immigrants are taken for processing after being arrested outside of the courtrooms below, was nearly empty with the only visible ICE official sitting behind the front desk.
No fewer than a dozen elected officials people chosen by the voters to seats in government to represent their interests came to 26 Federal Plaza on Thursday seeking answers about ICE's treatment of immigrant detainees being held there. They were not only denied entry to the 10th-floor holding area, where many detainees are supposedly being held despite ICE's continued denials, but the lawmakers also staged a protest over the federal agency's continued obfuscation about the fate of the immigrants in its custody.
