"Sat, May 16, 2pm & 7pm, $21-$122 Hammer Theatre, San Jose Performance also on Sunday."
New Ballet presents a fresh interpretation of the classical Giselle story at Hammer Theatre. The staging honors Giselle’s legacy while adding new costumes and a spooky ghost story set in woods haunted by vengeful spirits. Commissioning hardwood set pieces was impossible during astronomical times, so Santa Cruz Ballet’s set pieces were given a second life. Santa Cruz Ballet Artistic Director Diane Cypher supplied large wooden houses built by local carpenter Jake Lackey. The European village charm is completed through these provided structures. Performances run on Sunday as well, with scheduled times and ticket prices listed for Hammer Theatre in San Jose.
