"In a tranquil residential street in the Munich district of Altschwabing, between the Munchner Freiheit and the englischer Garten, our client purchased a property with an atypical, lowrise 1920s building, with a view to developing a new apartment block. Even if the quarter and its demographics have changed significantly in recent decades, Schwabing still holds onto an artistic and free-thinking atmosphere. The quarter is vibrant with pubs, local and international eateries, cinemas, galleries, long-established theatres, day-care centers, and schools."
Located in Altschwabing, Munich, the project redeveloped a site into a 2,453 m² apartment building completed in 2022. Lead architectural input came from Mark Randel with involvement from David Chipperfield Architects and Studio Mark Randel; Simon Menges provided photographs. Structural engineering was undertaken by TBU Ingenieurburo Karlsfeld, MEP by A-engineering Munich and ITG Eching, and landscape design by Levin Monsigny and P-38. Building physics were addressed by PMI Unteraching. Local architects Weickenmeier, Kunz + Partner participated and KAUPA Ingenieure provided fire consulting. Manufacturers on the project include Boehmler, Cinca Mosaic, Renner Bau, Soreg Glide and Wigglesworth Weider.
