20-Minute Restorative Yoga for When Life Feels Overwhelming
"Although this 20-minute yoga practice won't change the chaos of your day or your seemingly endless to-do list, it will slow you down long enough to change how you show up to them. Basically, it's designed to help you escape from life just long enough so you can feel more calm and like yourself when you return to (gestures at everything)."
"And if you're mentally calculating the cost of taking some time for yourself, know that even if you pause long enough to practice just a few of the poses, rather than the entire 20-minute yoga sequence, you'll still experience that sigh-inducing pause and the feeling of coming back to, well, you. So however long of a break you can manage, trust that these poses from restorative yoga founder Judith Hanson Lasater will help you restore yourself. -YJ Editors"
A 20-minute restorative yoga practice offers a brief, intentional pause to slow the body and mind and re-center before returning to tasks. Partial practice of selected poses still provides a calming sigh and renewed sense of self. The sequence emphasizes mindful breathing and gentle movement that restore inner calm. Poses include Uttanasana (Standing Forward Bend) with feet a foot apart, folding while holding the elbows, keeping a slightly arched lower back and active abdomen for stability, held 5–10 breaths and repeated. Cat–Cow on hands and knees alternates spinal rounding and arching with awareness of shoulder and midback movement and ten repetitions. Bridge begins lying on the back with knees bent and feet flat, prepared for lift.
