Israel's push to displace thousands of Palestinians from the West Bank
"Displacement and Israeli settler violence against Palestinians has surged to record levels in occupied West Bank. In the occupied West Bank, much like in the Gaza Strip, Israeli policy is forcing thousands of Palestinians from their homes, in stark defiance of international law. A report published last week by Human Rights Watch (HRW) highlighted the expulsion of 32,000 Palestinians from their homes in just three refugee camps this year."
"The displacements come as Israeli violence spirals in the West Bank, where more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis since October 7, 2023, and the start of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, and Israelis living in illegal settlements launch increasingly violent attacks on Palestinians. In Area C, the part of the occupied West Bank without even symbolic Palestinian administrative control, the United Nations reported earlier in November that more than 1,000 Palestinians were displaced when Israel demolished their homes."
Displacement and settler violence have surged to record levels across the occupied West Bank, forcing thousands of Palestinians from their homes. Human Rights Watch reported the expulsion of 32,000 Palestinians from three refugee camps after Israeli operations in Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarem that began in January, marking the largest mass displacement in the West Bank since 1967. More than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 7, 2023, amid escalating violence and settler attacks. In Area C, Israeli demolitions displaced over 1,000 people in November, and another 500 were made homeless in occupied East Jerusalem. Human rights groups call for investigations into senior Israeli officials.
