Elbridge Colby, Pentagon deputy, hosted Israeli and Lebanese military delegations in Washington for the security track supporting peace talks. The meeting was intended to complement upcoming diplomacy led by the Department of State. Colby said the military discussions would inform the political track next week. Senior Israeli and Lebanese official talks have been ongoing since last month. Progress is complicated because Hezbollah, an Iran-backed Shiite militant group targeted by Israel, is not participating and has refused to accept the results.
