"There were two policemen. One was hiding behind a car. One was a shot in the head, he was just bleeding from his face. Another one not injured. And I'm just screaming, Where's my baby? GiGi! Gigi! Gigi!' Everyone's saying, Be quiet. They're going to come to us. They're going to shoot us. They're going to shoot us.' I'm just screaming, I don't care! Where is my baby? Where's my baby?' I'm trying to go, recalled Miller."
"These police officers were hiding behind a car. I tried to grab one of their guns. The other one grabbed me and says, No!' I'm trying to grab for his gun. These men, these police officers, they know who I am, she continued, adding, And I hope they're hearing this. You are weak! You could have saved so many more people's lives. They were just standing there listening and watching this all happen, holding me back."
Vanessa Miller described police allegedly hiding behind a car as two gunmen attacked a Hanukkah gathering at Bondi Beach, killing 15 and injuring dozens. She said she screamed for her three-year-old daughter GiGi and attempted to grab a police officer's gun while officers restrained her. She said public bystanders and a pregnant woman rescued her child. Wayne Miller urged confronting antisemitism and demanded government action. Vanessa accused police and government of weakness and failing to prevent greater loss of life, asserting they knew of threats to Jewish people and calling for accountability.
