"The 2025 Youth Peace Camp in Cyprus was no ordinary summer camp."
"Organised by the Parents Circle Families Forum, every year the camp brings together Palestinian and Israeli children, all of them touched in some way by conflict, occupation and loss."
"The Today in Focus producer Natalie Ktena headed to the camp this year against the backdrop of Israel's brutal war in Gaza to see if it was still possible for the teenagers to come together."
"With a ceasefire plan now finally agreed for Gaza, might these children show a way forward to a more sustainable peace?"
Organised by the Parents Circle Families Forum, the 2025 Youth Peace Camp in Cyprus brings together Palestinian and Israeli teenagers who have experienced conflict, occupation and loss. The camp creates opportunities for shared activities, dialogue and mutual support aimed at building interpersonal connections across painful histories. The camp took place amid Israel's brutal war in Gaza and a recently agreed ceasefire plan, underscoring the immediate relevance of such grassroots initiatives. Staff and volunteers facilitate conversations and activities designed to confront grief, challenge narratives of enmity, develop conflict-transformation skills, and cultivate empathy, resilience and cooperative action toward longer-term reconciliation.
