Nasa Hataoka shot a 7-under 65 on the Siam Country Club Old Course and tied with Chanettee Wannasaen for the opening-round lead at the LPGA Thailand. Hataoka has five individual LPGA wins and two International Crown team titles. Accurate tee shots and iron shots created many birdie chances for Hataoka. Gemma Dryburgh opened with an eagle and three birdies to shoot 66, one stroke behind and level with Somi Lee and Hye-Jin Choi. Top-ranked Jeeno Thitikul and Lydia Ko shot 67s and were among those tied for sixth while defending champion Angel Yin posted a 69. Nelly Korda is skipping the early Asia swing and will not enter Thailand, Singapore, or China.
