Militia drone strike kills at least 30 in Sudan displacement camp, says El Fasher group
"A militia drone strike has killed at least 30 people at a displacement shelter in the besieged city of El Fasher in western Sudan, a local activist group said. The Resistance Committee for El Fasher said the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group hit the Dar al-Arqam displacement centre, which is in the grounds of a university. Bodies remained trapped in the rubble, the committee said in a statement, describing it as a massacre and calling on the international community to intervene."
"The RSF has been fighting the Sudanese Armed Forces in a civil war since April 2023. Its militants have put El Fasher under siege for more than 500 days, and families there are starving. The UN has described the Sudan war as one of the worst humanitarian crises of the 21st century. More than 150,000 people have been killed and more than 14 million displaced. Countrywide fighting, fuelled by international powers, has raged in the absence of an effective global effort to end the bloodshed."
