Pedro Inzunza Coronel, alias El Pichon, was killed during a Mexican navy anti-drug operation in Sinaloa after two operators of his criminal cell were detained and attacked naval personnel. Coronel and his father, Pedro Inzunza Noriega, led a major fentanyl trafficking network that trafficked tens of thousands of kilograms of fentanyl into the United States. Authorities previously seized more than 1.65 tons of fentanyl in raids on their locations. The US Department of Justice charged the father and son with narco-terrorism and money laundering. The pair were linked to the Beltran Leyva Organization and splinter groups including the Guasave Cartel.
