Suspect In Washington Shooting Charged With Assassination Attempt On Trump
""Those charges are only three charges that are in the complaint... there will be additional charges as this investigation continues to unfold," Pirro said. "But make no mistake, this was an attempted assassination of the president of the United States.""
""What is clear from the complaint and what we have so far is he was targeting president Trump," said acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche. "As far as understanding additional motivation, that's for the FBI and law enforcement.""
Cole Tomas Allen has been charged with attempted assassination of President Trump and a plot targeting senior government officials. US Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced the charges following an incident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner where Allen opened fire on security personnel. One officer was shot but sustained no serious injuries. Investigators believe Allen intended to harm high-ranking officials. A manifesto allegedly sent to family members has been obtained, indicating his motivations for the attack.
