GTA 6 Has Been Delayed Again, Now Launching In November, 2026
"Our fears have come to pass, my friends, as the Grand Theft Auto 6 will not be making its scheduled May, 2026 release date and will instead launch 6 months later on November 19. Hopefully. Rockstar shared the news on social media, saying "We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.""
"If the game does actually make it's new November release date, it will have been roughly three years since it was officially announced. But let's face it, Rockstar has a rich history of delaying their games. Only a few titles have launched without a delay, while the rest have usually been pushed back at least once. Max Payne 3, for instance, suffered from numerous delays that ultimately resulted in it release 2.5 years after it was initially supposed to."
Rockstar delayed Grand Theft Auto VI from May 2026 to November 19, 2026, adding six months to the development schedule. The company said extra time will allow finishing the game with the expected level of polish. The revised release timing may force other publishers and developers to reconsider previously shifted launch windows that had been moved to avoid competing with GTA VI. The delay continues a pattern of postponed Rockstar releases; Max Payne 3 experienced multiple delays that pushed its release 2.5 years later than initially planned. The announcement produced a small dip in Take-Two Interactive's stock price while expectations remain high for strong sales.
