Anthem is officially shutting down on January 12

EA's online shooter Anthem is set to permanently shut down on January 12, 2026, following its removal from the storefront on August 15. Players will retain access only if the game is already in their library. The ability to purchase premium currency has ceased, although existing balances can still be used. Anthem faced criticism at launch in 2019 for its reliance on grinding and various bugs. BioWare halted active development in 2021 after significant setbacks and layoffs, focusing on Mass Effect 5 in a reduced team.
