Trump's Tech Force hiring effort extends application deadline
"I know the ethics lawyers hate me when I say this, but I think we can deal with the ethics issues. I'm not worried about that,"
"To me, the bigger opportunity is, what's the upside of having that mix."
"I want to demonstrate that, look, if you do great work in government and you ultimately decide you want to be in the private sector and not in government, then your skill set is transferable to the private sector,"
The application deadline for the new U.S. Tech Force was extended by more than two weeks due to tremendous interest. The program aims to place 1,000 young technologists into two-year roles across the federal government, with the possibility of expanding that target. The hiring push responds to last year’s departure of over 330,000 federal employees, including technologists, and seeks to make movement between government and the private sector easier. About 30 private companies, including Uber, Microsoft and Anduril, will provide managers, training, and participate in a job fair. Managers may take leaves of absence and are not required to divest stocks, raising conflict-of-interest concerns. More than 35,000 people have expressed interest, and recruitment is being coordinated with the NobleReach Foundation.
