"Once again, President Donald Trump went on a Truth Social frenzy, and said a bunch of things that simply are not true. The latest Trump outburst came Wednesday night and continued into Thursday morning. The Daily Beast's Cameron Adams reported that during a 36-minute stretch from 9:23 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday until 9:59 p.m., Trump had 48 posts. Adams described them as "wild conspiracy theories and ego-boosting posts.""
"CNN's Jake Tapper tweeted, "Good morning! In the 9 pm ET hour then recommencing in the 5 am ET, the president posted or reposted more than 60 times, attacking President Obama, PM Carney, Gov Newsom, Gov Walz, Rep Omar, Alex Pretti, and sharing a bunch of untethered nonsense about the 2020 election." CNN's Daniel Dale called it a "late-night nonsense-posting spree.""
"In one post, Trump falsely claimed that Walmart is about to shut 250 of its 303 California stores because of the state's "$22 per hour minimum wage." Dale tweeted, "The minimum wage is $16.90, not $22, and Walmart tells me this morning that the mass-closure claim is fake, in fact that it just opened a new store in California last month." In response to Dale's tweet, California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom wrote, "You mean the President is lying? He would never!" In another tweet, Newsom wrote, "We cannot believe we have to say any of this out loud. We cannot believe this is real life. And we truly cannot believe this man has the nuclear codes. Deep breaths, everyone. Three more years.""
President Donald Trump posted dozens of messages on Truth Social overnight, many repeating conspiracy theories and baseless claims. He posted intensively during a stretch from about 9:23 p.m. to 9:59 p.m., with reports of 48 posts during that 36-minute span and more than 60 posts across the night and early morning. The posts attacked multiple public figures and amplified untethered claims about the 2020 election. He falsely claimed that Walmart planned to close 250 of its 303 California stores because of a purported $22 per hour minimum wage. The actual California minimum wage is $16.90 and Walmart denied any mass closures, noting it opened a new store in California last month. California Governor Gavin Newsom responded with sarcasm and alarm about a president with nuclear authority spreading falsehoods.
