He criticized the Gordie Howe International Bridge between Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan, saying Canada built both sides with virtually no U.S. content and accusing a prior waiver around the BUY AMERICAN Act. He accused Ontario of barring U.S. spirits and beverages and faulted Canadian dairy tariffs as harming U.S. farmers. He warned he will not allow the bridge to open until the United States is fully compensated and said negotiations will start immediately.
