The exchange occurred during an exclusive interview at a Ford plant in Detroit. Trump characterized the country as having gone from "dead" a year and a half earlier to "the hottest country in the world." Trump suggested Dokoupil's employer, Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison, "might be bust" if Harris had won and repeated that assertion while referencing Dokoupil's salary, saying Dokoupil might have had the job but at a lower pay rate.
