He accused Democrats of persuading Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley to enforce the practice and said Democrats selectively violate the custom to their advantage. Chuck Grassley defended the blue slip, noting Republicans kept about 30 liberal nominees off the bench during the Biden administration. The blue slip is a roughly century-old Senate custom.
