President Donald Trump launched racist rants against Somalia and Somali Americans during a Cabinet meeting and an Oval Office photo op, calling Somali migrants "garbage" and urging them to go back to where they came from. Trump accused Somali migrants of doing nothing but complaining and said many came from "hell." A Minneapolis Trump supporter, Mohamed Ahmed, responded angrily, declaring, "My children are not garbage," and said he and his neighbors had campaigned for Trump. Minnesota political leaders pushed back, noting that Somali Minnesotans include doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs and children. The remarks drew widespread condemnation.
