President Donald Trump excluded Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore from White House events occurring during the National Governors Association annual meeting scheduled Feb. 19–21. Plans to invite only Republican governors to a White House business meeting on Feb. 20 prompted NGA leadership to remove that event from its agenda and to cease using NGA resources for transportation. NGA chair Gov. Kevin Stitt informed members that the group would no longer serve as facilitator for the White House meeting. Trump also blocked Polis and Moore from a separate bipartisan governors’ dinner on Feb. 20, and Moore reacted to his exclusion as exclusionary and concerning for representation.
