"I'm begging. Tone down the rhetoric. In my career, I've buried Border Patrol agents, I've buried ICE agents, and the saddest thing I've ever had to do is hand a folded flag to a spouse or a child. I don't want to see anybody die. Anybody. The people we're looking for, even the worst of the worst. I don't want to see anybody die."
"With the rhetoric now, comparing ICE to murders and the Chief Secret Police, I'm afraid this is not over."
An ICE agent identified as Jonathan Ross shot and killed 37-year-old Minneapolis mother Renee Good after she allegedly obstructed a roadway during an enforcement action. Multiple-angle footage, including the agent's perspective, circulated and intensified debate about whether the use of force was self-defense—ICE contends Good used her car as a weapon—while critics allege excessive force and say she was trying to leave. The FBI is investigating. Minneapolis police declared an unlawful assembly, detained dozens of protesters, and reported confrontations and vandalism. ICE official Tom Homan appealed for reduced rhetoric and warned of potential escalation against agents.
