Gomez is running in a 10-way primary challenge for Carter's seat. She posted an Instagram video claiming she is under federal investigation and that agents removed her from state voter rolls, a claim that remains unverified. The state GOP said Gomez turned the gala into a campaign stunt with unruly outbursts and a guest-involved physical altercation. Gomez urged supporters to vote to make Texas hostile to "terrorist Muslims, illegals, and corrupt politicians," and has centered her campaign on book burning and derogatory attacks.
