The protests are part of Students Rise Up/Project Rise Up, which intends walkouts and hundreds of school protests as a buildup to a mass student strike on May 1, 2026, demanding free college, fair wages, and safe, inclusive campuses. Numerous progressive and student organizations are listed as organizers or supporters.
