Ross deployed with the Indiana National Guard to Iraq from November 2004 to November 2005 and served as a machine gunner. Ross worked at CBP for eight years and at ICE for ten years. The Veterans Administration lost over 50,000 employees while DHS added thousands to ICE and CBP.
