The House voted 219 to 211 to disapprove the national emergency used to impose tariffs on Canada. Six Republicans joined all Democrats except Jared Golden, who voted against the measure. The non-binding resolution next goes to the Senate and would ultimately need presidential approval to overturn the tariffs. President Trump warned on Truth Social that Republicans who oppose tariffs would face political consequences and argued that tariffs provide economic and national security. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said the tariffs were driving up prices and creating uncertainty for American families.
