Republicans in Congress privately mocked Donald Trump for his mannerisms and for supporters of his candidacy before switching to public support after his 2024 primary victory. Marjorie Taylor Greene described colleagues who had criticized her becoming publicly supportive and adopting MAGA apparel once Trump secured the nomination. Greene split with Trump and will leave Congress in January after Trump called her a traitor and attacked her online. Greene reported hundreds of threats to US Capitol Police, saying initial threats came from the political left and later threats came from the right after she opposed Trump's handling of Epstein-related files and stood with survivors.
