U.S. senators condemned President Donald Trump's 28-point peace plan for ending the Russia-Ukraine war, saying it rewards Russian aggression and concedes Ukrainian territory. The plan was crafted by the Trump administration and the Kremlin without Ukrainian involvement and acquiesces to many Russian demands that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly rejected. Trump is urging Kyiv to accept the plan by late next week. The critics included a Democrat, an Independent and a Republican not seeking reelection, who spoke at the Halifax International Security Forum and compared the proposal to historical appeasement while urging firmer opposition to Putin.
