""A graph can encapsulate a moment in history and speak to major world events." That's from Edison Research, which exercises its mastery of trend metrics by charting at-home listening from pre-Covid to present. The Covid bump is obvious, and reminiscent of when the audio audience basically tayed home for a season. Beyond that well documented trend, though, Edison's graph (above) also indicates a persistent post-bump rise in at-home listening."
"Beyond that well documented trend, though, Edison's graph (above) also indicates a persistent post-bump rise in at-home listening. "Covid didn't just shift habits for a period of time; it changed habits to a certain extent. "The trend starting in 2023 seems to point to a 'new normal', with the average between then and 2025 at 55%, seemingly reflecting a world where many office workers continue to work from home at least a few days each week.""
Edison Research data show at-home audio listening rose sharply during Covid and has remained elevated after the initial bump. The post-bump rise persists, with the trend from 2023 through 2025 averaging about 55% at-home listening. That average suggests a new normal as many office workers continue to work from home at least part of the week. Separate legislative action would mandate that automakers include AM radio as a safety feature. The AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act has 316 co-sponsors of 435 members of Congress and shows nearly equal support from Democrats and Republicans.
