Pete Buttigieg lauds protestors who are winning the fight in Minneapolis - LGBTQ Nation
"It's been an especially bleak couple of days since we learned of the killing of Alex Pretti in Minnesota,"
"But during that time, even just in the last few hours, we have seen some of the strongest proof yet that you are not powerless,"
"Republicans' "house of cards" could soon collapse."
Alex Pretti, a nurse, was shot ten times by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis after intervening between an agent and a woman. Videos show agents pepper-spraying him, wrestling him to the ground, and then shooting him to death after he was subdued. The administration defended the killing before an investigation. Protests and resistance followed in Minneapolis. Several Republican lawmakers, including Rep. Michael McCaul and Senators Thom Tillis, Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski, are calling for investigations. The administration resisted state law enforcement probes into the deaths of Pretti and Renee Good. A top Customs and Border Protection commander, Greg Bovino, has been sidelined, increasing political pressure.
