I think morality is least partly bound to a particular culture, and even within a community there are differences in our understanding. But this series is about the culture we share in the US, and the problems we face with the Trump Regime. This is not an edge case."

Ethics centers on morality, which is partly shaped by culture and varies within communities. A shared fundamental morality exists across religious differences, condemning murder and deliberate harm. Specific practices—kidnapping people for deportation, deaths in detention, tear-gassing children, killing migrants at sea, and separating and detaining children far from their parents—constitute moral evils. No religion or the shared cultural morality legitimates these acts. These abuses reflect a systemic moral failure demanding recognition and a moral response beyond debates about cultural margins or exceptional cases.
