"We cannot abide living under this federal occupation of Minnesota,"
"What's happening here is clearly immoral,"
"It's definitely chilly, but the kind of ice that's dangerous to us is not the weather."
About 100 clergy were arrested at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport after moving beyond the bounds of their demonstration permit and disrupting airline operations; they received misdemeanor citations for trespassing and failing to comply with a peace officer. Thousands of protesters gathered in downtown Minneapolis despite temperatures near minus 9°F to oppose intensified immigration enforcement and demand ICE leave Minnesota. Clergy, labor unions and progressive groups urged Minnesotans to avoid work, school and shops as part of a broader movement. Demonstrators have staged daily gatherings in the Twin Cities since Jan. 7 following the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE officer.
