Los Gatos approves entertainment zones for Super Bowl
""We support the focus on activating public rights-of-way, voluntary participation by businesses, prioritization of brick-and-mortar establishments within the commercial zone and coordination with the police department through the existing special event permit process,""
""When to-go options are available, customers can enjoy their purchases in true moderation. They don't feel pressured to finish everything on site, which actually encourages responsible consumption rather than waste or overindulgence.""
Los Gatos town council unanimously approved entertainment zones allowing public consumption of alcoholic beverages in downtown commercial areas for special events. Entertainment zones will operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., enabling daytime activations such as wine walks on Village Lane. The chamber of commerce supported the measure to boost economic vitality and prioritizes brick-and-mortar participation coordinated through special event permits. A resident noted that to-go alcohol options promote moderate consumption. About a dozen residents requested assurance that police and local government would not cooperate with ICE, and the council provided no answer by meeting's end.
