Hanna Kim left the director role at Login.gov at the end of last month and joined Microsoft as senior director for responsible AI product and strategic initiatives. Login.gov provides single sign-on and identity proofing for over 100 million people across 52 agencies and states and serves as a gateway to programs like Social Security. Deputy director Matt Pritchard is now acting director. Under Kim, Login.gov added facial recognition and introduced in-person verification at post offices for users who cannot or will not use biometrics. A 2023 GSA watchdog report found prior misrepresentation of compliance with an identity proofing standard.
