Labor, community groups rally against Trump's threats of an ICE invasion - 48 hills
"It can be as simple as, 'I'm going to sign up to adopt the corner that I live on', whether it's here in San Francisco County or in Alameda County, 'I'm going to take care of my neighbors, I'm going to buy extra groceries, I'm going to buy additional goods from street vendors, buy them out so that they can go home.' They don't have to worry about vending goods where they might have concern that ICE would be coming for them."
"not surge San Francisco on Saturday. Stay tuned!"
"This is a moment where we have to be united, and demonstrate, but also abandon all of our political bullshit on the side,"
Labor leaders and community organizations gathered at City Hall under a "We Keep Us Safe" banner to plan neighborhood-based mutual aid and preparedness against potential federal enforcement in San Francisco. Bianca Polovina urged residents to adopt corners, support neighbors, and buy extra groceries and vendor goods so vulnerable vendors can return home safely. President Trump posted on Truth Social that he would "not surge San Francisco on Saturday," after speaking with local figures; federal agents nevertheless arrived in the Bay and protests near Coast Guard Island were declared unlawful and dispersed. Organizers view each day without an invasion as a cautious win and urge unity and readiness.
