Matthew J Ammel, identified in court filings as having an affair with Kyrsten Sinema, received $1,815.91 on October 15 and $7,136.14 on October 31 from Sinema's former campaign committee. FEC records show Ammel received more than $128,000 from Sinema for Arizona and a related PAC between July 2024 and October 2025. Sinema formally shut down the Sinema for Arizona committee after it spent hundreds of thousands on expenses that appeared unrelated to campaigning, including health services for security staff, travel, lodging, meals, and event tickets. Between October and December the committee refunded nearly $600,000 to donors and spent about $200,000 on salaries and airfare. A North Carolina lawsuit by Heather Ammel accuses Sinema of damaging the marriage, providing gifts and concert tickets, and encouraging drug use to support psychedelic treatments she allegedly financed.
