When questioned about his record against Trump's agenda, Cornyn became defensive and accused Steinberg of being a paid influencer for the Paxton campaign. The reporter raised concerns about Cornyn's positions on amnesty and red flag laws, but Cornyn cut her off and ended the interview. According to The Texas Tribune, Cornyn voted with Trump's agenda 92 percent of the time during his first presidency. The primary runoff advanced after no candidate received over 50 percent in the March 3 primary.
