House Democrats Launching Controversial Master ICE Tracker'
"American citizens are being dragged off the streets by masked men and thrown into detention cells without access to a lawyer or even a phone call, Garcia said. No one, regardless of their background or appearance, should be living in fear of being thrown behind bars by their own government because of their race or what they look like. Their actions are unconstitutional, unacceptable, and completely un-American, and we will not stop fighting until this Administration is held accountable, he added."
"I think what I would say to him is the fact that if he wants to put a target on ICE agents' back, so be it, Lyons said. He shouldn't hide behind the fact that he wants to make his community safe. We've already seen from the Dallas shooting that apps like those are giving a map to a hit man. So he is not protecting his community."
Rep. Rob Garcia announced a master ICE tracker to be hosted on the House Oversight Committee website to compile verified reports from communities about ICE enforcement actions. Garcia said the committee will track every instance the community sends and launched an investigation into the Department of Homeland Security. Garcia criticized ICE operations, saying citizens are being detained without legal access and called the actions unconstitutional. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons responded that the tracker would place a target on ICE agents and endanger law enforcement, citing apps used to map victims during the Dallas shooting and questioning why agencies like the FBI and DEA are not tracked.
