Gov. Hochul picks former Speaker Adrienne Adams as her running mate in re-election bid
"STATEWIDE - A TRIUMVIRATE OF women could emerge leading New York state, now that Governor Kathy Hochul has tapped former City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams as her running mate in this year's gubernatorial election, creating the state's first all-female ticket. Spectrum News NY1 reported on Wednesday afternoon that Gov. Hochul, running for her second elected term as governor, has selected Adams as her hopeful lieutenant governor."
"If they win in November, Adams would become the state's first Black female lieutenant governor. The third top woman is state Attorney General Letitia James, who is also up for re-election. All are Democrats. Adrienne Adams, who until Dec. 31 represented the Council's 28th District in southeast Queens, served four years as Council Speaker. She also ran in the 2025 mayoral race but did not secure enough votes to win the Democratic primary."
