"These cuts were designed to attack and assault Planned Parenthood. They were not abortion cuts; they were attacks on wellness and screenings and they were attacks on women's healthcare."
"This is us standing up to the immediate cut that was in that bill. This is how we are fighting back."

"All of these questions have really been about other issues. This happens over and over and over again - (and we) wonder why we have such a horrific war on women in this country."
Governor Gavin Newsom signed legislation allocating $90 million to Planned Parenthood to offset recent federal restrictions that block Medicaid reimbursement. The Republican-backed One Big Beautiful Bill Act halted federal Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood, affecting more than 80% of nearly 1.3 million annual patient visits previously reimbursed by Medi‑Cal. Senator John Laird authored Senate Bill 106 to replace lost funding and asserted California would push back. Planned Parenthood leaders said state support is essential for survival and organizing against federal attacks. Planned Parenthood offers abortions, birth control, cancer screenings and STD testing, among other services.
